Yea! it is Kimmie! Speaking of cutting your nails.. my coworker does this.. at her desk. I swear, I have to leave everytime I hear the clippers.. snip ... snip... drives me nuts!

Electric socks. hilarious. What if you sweat? Will you get electricuded?
Heated mittens that plug into the computer!!! I want some! Some of my coworkers talk about getting me a pair.. b/c it is COLD in the office during the winter. I have a blankie for my lap at work. A mickey mouse plush blankie. Yes, I get made fun of. Oh yes, that fire yesturday? It was started by a space heater in the admissions office. Dear State, please let us be warm this winter!! I swear, I wear like 3 layers and thermals to work everyday!

ARgh! We had a power outage here at work... so I lost all of my notes about Episode 15! and I was halfway through!!!
I remember writing ... Katia should watch the movie Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation so she can learn about American Christmases!!! then something about how at my family friend's Eurasian Christmas dinners we always have egg rolls with the ham and mashed potatoes... and the kids would play chess... b/c that's what us half Chinese kids do (nobody owned a Nintendo).
Argh... that's all I can remember... something about ewww... eggnog... but eggnog taffy is pretty good.
I can't remember what else...

Oh Salvation Army bell ringers.. I love that episode of Friends where Phoebe tries to raise money for the Salvation Army.
Ok.. back to explaining about Katia's Christmas... Santa on a firetruck? lol.

Whoa! Katia is going away for Christmas for nearly 1 month?? I would LOVE to go on vacation for 1 month!

Wow! Katia has never seen snow??? My Chinese grandmother saw snow for the first time when she visited 15 years ago. She liked to throw it at my brother and me. Then she went back to Taiwan and everybody asked her what snow was like.
I got sent home from school when it was 100 degrees out. My Elementary school didn't have air conditioning.
I wonder if Katia has seen "A Christmas Story" yet? If she hasn't, she should see it by this Christmas.

haha.. love the Katia story about a kid who sucked on his fountain pen. I was chewing the top of my pen while I was in the library during my senior year of high school. Apparently, the ink started to leak and I didn't notice it. I went up to ask the librarian a question and she said I had ink all over my face... then she proceeded to clean off my face with a tissue paper and her SPIT! Like a little kid! I was soooo embarassed and grossed out.

French men will open doors for women??? Holy cow! I almost yelled at a guy this weekend for closing the door in my face at the mall this weekend.
Wow, French men sound lovely. It is nice to feel attractive sometimes. I miss that.
Love how the French woman goes out all made up. I went to Trader Joe's the other day in sweatpants and a tee shirt. But I did wear a long nice coat to hide my disheveledness.
Hilarious about the phone number thing! The Chris Moyles (BBC One) show used to have the "Flirt Divert Line". Basically, if you meet someone that you don't want to give your real number to, you give them this fake number. It is a regular voicemail. Usually on Monday mornings, they play the crazy voicemails on the radio show. Hilarious voicemails!!! Especially the one about the drunk guy who lost his car. lol.
Ew. Brains. I'm not sure if I could eat any of that.

Tim Tams. Still have not found them in the USA. I tried looking at Trader Joe's (which is not a ritzy grocery store!) but I didn't see them.
Poor Katia's toe. Wow, the ER with the battered wife. That's really, really sad.
What did Katia do to her toe? Oh wow, bumping a toe.
Sounds like the nurses in the Paris ER really enjoy their jobs. I really love whenever people love their jobs. I went to the Social Security Administration to get my name change and they guy who helped me was really nice.
An operation? OMG? Sounds like a serious toe. Love how the doctor 'called a mate' to schedule the toe operation.
I seriously love hearing about all the ER and doctor visits from K&K. Kylie's spider bite... Katia trying to find an optometrist.. Katia having a really bad cough.. visiting the pharmacy... I'm really jealous that Katia has free healthcare. ;-( The USA healthcare system sucks. I swear, my perscription cost has gone up 3 times in the past 3 years. Is it true that France doctors make house calls? I remember reading this in a book one time.
Katia getting sympothy. I can totally understand that. My best friend had cancer. She throws the 'cancer card' all the time. "Oh, I can't carry that b/c I had cancer." "I can help you carry toilet paper rolls". lol. Hilarious.

Magic Pens Arrive in the USA!!!
Just ran to the University Bookstore... and found MAGIC PENS!!! I am SOOOO EXCITED!!! I am so happy they are here in the USA now. Won't have to buy them off Ebay anymore!! Now to find the refills.....

How do you travel? You are right Kylie about Americans running here and there whenever they travel for vacation. I have vowed not to travel like that. One of my coworkers when to Italy for her honeymoon. Her and her new hubby took a bus tour. A bus tour for a honeymoon? That's really strange to me... I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon. It was the first time my husband and I had ever traveled for a 'long vacation' (1 week). We stayed at the Turtle Bay Resort (Ever seen forgetting Sarah Marshall?) in Oahu. We pretty much just relaxed the whole time. We did take trips to Pearl Harbour, Waima Bay, and the Dole Pineapple Plantation but that was the extent of our 'running around'. We did take a nice drive to eastern Oahu. I never, ever want to run around here and there and cram everything in.

Speaking of ginormous headphones... I am wearing big headphones. They are noise cancelling headphones - they block out the loud AC in my office. And they block out background noise! And muffle the jackhammer on the roof. (Love the rapping Kyliemac)
Trick-or-treating! I need to buy candy. We had 75 (SEVENTY FIVE!) kids last year. Since Halloween is on a Friday this year, we may hit 100. That would be awesome! I am going to give out Nerds again.
Kyliemac misses Reeces Peanut Butter Cups. Yum! I remember when I was taking an extra long vacation in Taiwan, after 1 month, I missed Taco Bell Supreme Soft Tacos. I missed the sour cream, cheese, and meat. When I told my Chinese grandmother I really wanted a taco, she thought I wanted octopus. Because "taco" in Japanese is "octopus".
Wait? Peanut Butter PUMPKIN? Must rewind... OH MY GOD! I need to find THOSE!!! I know what I'm doing tonight!!! Going to Target to FIND THEM!
Couple that live together start to look like each other? Freaky. So, you start looking like brother and sister?
MMm... macaroons! I always see pictures on Flickr of the Paris macaroons. Sad about the Champs L'Eysee. That's what I feel about the shops in Georgetown. They used to have little unique shops... now the stores are like going to the mall - Gap, JCrew, Express, etc. Nothing special anymore.
Mushroom hunting!!! I was explaining to friends the other night that I went "Pumpkin hunting". They all laughed at the hunting term. Thanks K&K!
Wait a second... Back to the Reeces Peanut Butter Cups.. I'm confused. is it pumpkin shaped or pumpkin flavored? I have a feeling pumpkin shaped... boooo... would be awesome if it was pumpkin flavored.

I wonder if you can use pigs or dogs to hunt mushrooms... like how they are used to hunt truffles...

8 is my favorite number. It's a lucky number in Chinese. I was married on 8-8-08. Means wealth and prosperity to the Chinese. Alicia is listening to Episode 8 on 10/8/08!

K&K went to see Pan's Labarynth. SCARY movie. I had bad dreams after seeing that movie. That movie was not all fantasy. Ewww.. sugar popcorn! Like kettle corn? The pumpkin patch I went to this past weekend had kettle corn.
No pretzels in the movie theater in Paris? That sucks.
Come on K&K...say the movie was scary.... say it... nope.

Katia is talking about corresponding with neighbors in Paris. I don't chat with my neighbors much. The family a few houses down gave us peanut butter cookies when we moved in. I think this particular family has quintuplets. All 5 kids look alike and look the same age. I can't imagine have 5 kids all the same age.

Calling a waiter garcon. So rude! I hate in movies when someone calls the waiter "Boy" in American movies. My husband always tries to catch the eye of the waiter or lifts his hand holding a credit card to indicate he would like the check.

I wonder if K&K have been to all 23 (maybe more now!) Starbucks by now? I can't wait to try the Starbuck's salty caramel hot chocolate. A salty and sweet drink? YUM. Bad coffee is definately bad coffee. There is no way around it. Old coffee is soooo nasty.
Turkish Toilets! I call it a 'hole in the ground'. This is hilarious b/c in Taiwan (my mom is from Taiwan) I went to use the bathroom in McDonalds and saw this hole in the ground. I was confused on how to use it! I had to ask my mom. lol. My grandmother got a big kick out of my puzzled look.
Hmm...I guess the road trip is a train trip. Ew. Smokers. Poor Kyliemac - I think she has a problem with cigarette smoke.
Hedgehogs being strangled by McFlurries? Poor hedgehogs.
"Rubbish Bin" Kyliemac calls the garbage. She totally picked that up from Katia. I have never heard an American say "rubbish bin".

That's pretty sad about how people come to Paris and stay for a short while then they leave. It must be really sad b/c you are not sure when you'll see them again.Thank goodness for blogs, email, and Skype. That's really a good way to stay in contact. Nice introductions, although Symphony is referred to as “the cat”. Little did K&K know, Symphony will become an important part of interrupting the podcast. Plus, there is no coffee table studio yet! There is a comfy couch… That’s just strange. I wonder what part of Ikea the podcast idea was thought up of? In the bedroom department? In the kitchen department?? Or perhaps in the cafeteria where perhaps K&K were taking part in chowing down some Swedish meatballs with lingonberry? So, one of the first things I learn about Paris is that Katia does not drink tea unless she is playing scrabble with her mum. Lol.
Ooh.. Eiffel Tower. Love all the facts about the Eiffel Tower! The ice skating rink sounds awesome. Just to tell someone that you went ice skating on the Eiffel tower is pretty cool. This Eiffel Tower talk totally reminds me that I have a small picture of the Eiffel Tower still at my parents house – my bff gave it to me. Thinking about where would be a great place for it in my house… Anyhow….
Neopet. This is never explained! What is a Neopet? I’m not even sure if I’m spelling it correctly. I’m thinking a Neopet is one of the Tamagotchi handheld digital pet. It must be some video game?

Introduction
Dear K&K,
So, you might be wondering why I decided to start this blog? Well, to submit my entry for episode 200 of course! Plus, K&K are really cool chicks and I've been thinking about blogging about their episodes for quite a while. I started listening to K&K from Flare's blog. I can't remember if I saw a link.. perhaps it was a link from Katia's page? I really can't remember. I do remember seeing a episode 1 link and thought, "hey, I love hearing about people who live from other countries!". That's how it all started. ;-)
I work in a library in my own little cubicle filled to the brim with books. I pretty much sit at my desk 8 hours a day/5 days a week. My work environment is very, very quiet. I hate that it is so quiet, so I fill my days listening to podcasts and BBC Radio while I work.
Sometimes I feel like I'm having a conversation with Katia and Kyliemac. I feel like I've gotten to know them so well with the 180 episodes I've listened to so far. I feel like they are my friends. I love learning about the mish-mash of Australia, Kyliemac's America, and Paris. After each episode I want to talk to someone about the podcast... or to call up the K&K team... Whenever I talk about the podcast to my husband I refer to it as "that podcast I listen to from Paris". Then I thought, "a blog would be great for chatting to K&K!".
And so the journey begins. I am going to start from the beginning from episode 1 and blog about each and every episode. Not really sure how many episodes I will get to by the Dec 1 deadline but I will try my best. ;-)
Get ready... set... go!!!!!
